Under the guidance of the founder Dr. Abhijit Dam, a core team of experts and volunteers works with the rural communities that KOSISH serves.
Dr. Abhijit Dam, Founder and Medical Director
Dr. Abhijit Dam is a medical graduate from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He is a recognized expert in the field of palliative medicine with numerous qualifications to this credit from top institutions like Stanford and Cardiff universities and holds a Diploma in Palliative Medicine from the University of Medical Sciences, Poland.
He is also the National Faculty and Vice President of Indian Association of Palliative Care. With his nonprofit organization KOSISH, Dr. Dam provides pioneering palliative services for the rural elderly and the terminally ill in the Indian states of Jharkhand and West Bengal.
He is also the author of two books For Thou Art A Hero: Believe It! and Wading Through Quicksand: Palliative Care, Spirituality & Sanatan Dharma, available on Amazon. He is currently writing his third book.

Dr. Nivedita Datta

An Obstetrician and Gynecologist, she has been one of the founder members. Her passion is in rural obstetrics, promoting safe motherhood practices & palliation in gynecological malignancies.
Ms. Usha Rani Mohanty

A trained nurse and a founder member of KOSHISH. Her forte is rural palliation, organizing camps for the rural elderly and organizing home visits for them.
Dr. Subrata Dey

A consultant anesthesiologist by profession. His area of interest lies in advocacy and home care services.

A Reiki grandmaster, who has been associated with us since his wife was afflicted with cancer. His passion lies in teaching & healing practices.

Ada Nagar is a third-year student at O.P.Jindal Global, majoring in psychology. She is currently working with Dr.Dam to create India’s first platform for Rural Palliative Nursing Assistant Programme and managing the social media of the organisation.

A consultant psychiatrist practicing in the UK. Her interest lies in adult psychiatry and addressing grief and loss.
